Sports prediction is an information problem. The books have it, and most people do not. CappingAlpha works to close that gap by giving you everything you could possibly want to know about a game in one place. There are inconsistencies in the lines and spreads that can often give the house an edge. CappingAlpha's algorithm uses a system of complex agents to find the gaps where teams, players, and lines look most profitable versus the books, and ranks them accordingly.
These calculations happen throughout the day and can sometimes take right up until tip-off to fully crystallize. Picks are ranked, and the day's CA picks (50+ points) are highlighted along with a wide range of statistics to help inform your call.
This is to inform you and give you an extra layer of insight on each pick. No pick is ever recommended by our side. Anything can happen in a sports match. It's purely statistical data.
Each morning at 5am ET, opening book lines (moneylines, spreads, over/unders) are locked as the reference baseline for the day. From there, AI agents monitor public data streams in real time, cross-referencing signals against live game data from ESPN, weather from OpenWeatherMap, public sentiment from X, community intelligence sources, and more. Every signal is normalized, weighted, and run through the scoring engine before a pick appears on the board.
Picks are ranked by score. The model is built to detect market pressure early, before it moves a line. No single source can spike a score on its own.
The line each pick uses is not the 5am opener. It is the market line captured 1 hour before that game starts. Lines move during the day, so we let a pick track the market until then, capture that number once, and lock it, as if the bet were placed right there. That locked line is the official line the CA rankings show and every tracked bet grades against. Schedule slips happen, so the 1-hour mark follows the real start time. And until a game actually begins, the tracked call can still change: if our scoring moves ahead on the other side before the start, the recorded bet flips with it, at that same locked line.
Scoring keeps updating throughout the day as new signals come in, and locks 5 minutes after a game's actual tip-off. Schedule slips happen, so the lock follows the real start, not the scheduled one.
Every CA pick is logged with the final game score and result. The hypothetical P/L shown in the CA Picks tab assumes a flat $10 unit at the line recorded when the pick qualified for tracking. No actual money is wagered. CappingAlpha does not place bets on any game, ever.
Scores generated by CappingAlpha are produced by an AI model trained on public capper data. A high score means more community agreement on a given side. It does not mean that side is likely to cover or win. Past hypothetical performance is not indicative of future results.
