This Privacy Policy explains how CappingAlpha collects, uses, and protects information when you use cappingalpha.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to this policy. It works alongside our Terms of Service.
CappingAlpha LLC ("CappingAlpha," "we," "us"), a Florida limited liability company, operates a sports information and data platform that scores, ranks, and tracks the day's games. We are the operator and the controller of the information described here. We are based in the United States, and the Site is operated from and directed to users in the United States who are 18 or older. Information we collect is stored and processed in the United States. A mailing address is available on request by emailing [email protected].
We do not knowingly collect financial account numbers, government identifiers, or sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not send them to us.
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use two kinds:
We show a brief cookie notice on your first visit. Continuing to use the Site means you are aware of this policy. You can change your analytics choice at any time below.
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand which features people use and where they run into friction. This includes aggregated metrics (pages, tabs, clicks, referrers, devices) and may include session recordings that capture on-screen interactions such as clicks, navigation, and scrolling.
To protect your privacy, recordings are configured to mask everything you type. We do not record the contents of input fields, and payment details are entered only on Stripe's secure checkout, never on our pages. We use this data to improve the Site, not to identify you personally beyond your account. Analytics and recording data is kept for a limited period (see Section 9).
Email we send. We currently use email only for account and transactional messages, such as password resets and replies to your support requests, sent through our email provider. We do not run a marketing email program. If we introduce one later, those messages will include a way to unsubscribe and you can opt out at any time.
Aggregated and de-identified data. We may create and use aggregated or de-identified data, such as overall usage statistics, that cannot reasonably identify you. We do not treat that data as personal information.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed for them to perform their work:
Sources of sports data, not recipients of your information. To build picks, scores, schedules, and market data, we pull information from third-party sources, including public sports data feeds, odds and market data providers, prediction-market data, and public handicapping sources. These are sources of sports and market data flowing into the Site. We do not send your personal information to them.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not operate an advertising network or share your information with advertising partners to build profiles about you.
Some US state laws, including California's, define "sharing" broadly enough that using analytics cookies could be treated as "sharing" for cross-context purposes. To the extent that applies, the analytics opt-out described in Section 8 also serves as your "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" choice. You can exercise it at any time, on any device, at no cost, and we will not deny you service or change your experience for using it.
You can opt out of analytics and session recording at any time. This sets a preference in your browser and stops new analytics collection on this device.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser or a browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of analytics and any "sharing" on that browser. There is no agreed industry standard for the older "Do Not Track" signal, so we do not respond to Do Not Track separately. The GPC signal and the opt-out control above both work.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can request access to or deletion of your account data by contacting us (see Sections 12 and 15).
We keep information only for as long as we need it. In practice:
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing (bcrypt), encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure session cookies, and access controls. We never store your full card number. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Site is intended only for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights under state law, including California (CCPA and CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah. CappingAlpha is based in Florida, which does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy law, but we extend the following rights to residents of states that grant them:
| Category | What this includes for us | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email, username, IP address, Google account identifier | Create and secure your account, analytics |
| Customer and commercial records | Subscription status, plan, and payment result from Stripe (no card numbers) | Provide and manage paid access |
| Internet or network activity | Pages and tabs viewed, picks and games opened, votes, session recordings (typing masked) | Operate and improve the Site, security |
| Geolocation | Approximate location (country or region) from your IP address | Security and regional context |
| Inferences | Favorite sports and general usage patterns | Personalize and improve the Site |
We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account numbers, precise geolocation, or other sensitive personal information.
Email [email protected] to make a request. We will verify your identity using the email address on your account before we act. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may ask the agent for proof of authorization and may still verify your identity directly. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a different experience for exercising any of these rights.
The Site links to and surfaces data from external sites and services, such as ESPN, sportsbooks, and prediction markets. We do not control those sites, and their privacy practices are their own. This policy does not cover them, so please review their policies before sharing information with them.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
For privacy questions, or to access, correct, or delete your data, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond as required by law and may verify your identity first.
